Catching a Case of the Injury Bug

Mid-August, the home stretch of empty Sundays. So close to Scott Hanson serenading you for 7 hours of commercial free football. The excitement for the return of the NFL is like no other. Pre-season started and the minicamp overreactions are in full affect. Fantasy football mock drafts are done daily and the trash talking begins. A time where enemies are made and egos are born.
NFL Pre-season has started and that only means one step closer to Americas sport being back. There will be only 4 games this preseason so look for young stars to get more looks than years previous. Preseason/Minicamp also has the scare factor as every year someone seems to end there season before it even begins. Jets have battled adversity early on as two young stars caught a case of the injury bug. Quarterback Zach Wilson suffered a bone bruise and a meniscus tear in Fridays game against the Eagles. When he went down, conversations stopped. Fears of a torn ACL were amongst the concerns for football fans watching. However, the news came that he will only be expecting to miss 2-4 weeks and will undergo minor surgery to repair the knee. The Jets are looking at this as “fortunate news”. Other young And upcoming Jets hopeful received not so fortunate news, as offensive tackle Mekhi Becton will likely miss the entire season with a knee injury. Not the first time this 23 year old has faced injury. Last year he missed basically the whole season from injury. He also showed up to training camp overweight, so this dude is not on the good side of Jets fans.
New York Football has not been great for both the Giants and Jets in recent years. Since it’s only preseason, they technically both still have a shot and both fan bases are always overly optimistic. “This is the year they turn it around,” is heard every August. All we can hope is that we have at least some sort of hope still alive left in us come October.
