100 Degrees, 100 Beers, 100 Runs

This weekend was an absolute scorcher. Both the temperature and beer intake were sniffing triple-digits. There was not much else to do other than to sit poolside, booze it up with the squad, and watch whatever the Sports Gods gave us for a late July weekend. As discussed in the past, we are in fact in the quiet season for sports. However, this weekend we had a little more excitement and not just our 100+ baseball games.
Saturday brought us some UFC Fight night action. Not a huge/exciting card, but one name that is taking the hearts of UFC fans of all ages. “Patty The Baddy,” Paddy Pimblett. This guy is a fan favorite for his unreal personality and his gift of throwing hands. The English scrapper improved his professional record to 19-3 on Saturday (3-0 in the UFC), with the submission in round 2 against Jordan Leavitt. As some were saying this was Paddy’s biggest challenge yet, the man did not disappoint. At the end of the day, the UFC is a business and looks to collect a bag any way they can. Don’t be surprised to see Patty the Baddy on some big cards moving forward as he is an absolute money magnet with the fans/crowds he draws in.
Shifting focus, a football game in Boston took place at Fenway Park on Friday. Not an actual football game, just a baseball game with a football-esk score. The Red Sox getting bent over puts a smile on the faces of many. But the Red Sox getting bent over in front of their own fan base to a division rival just hits different. The Blue Jays will be facing charges after assaulting the Sox on Friday with a score of 28 to 5. Yes, 28 runs. The game had it all. Raimel Tapia hit an inside the park grand slam, Lourdes Gurriel tied the Blue Jays franchise record with 6 hits, and the Jays tallied 29 hits overall. As the Sox continue to struggle, they finish the weekend 17.5 games back in the division to the Yankees and 3 games out of the Wild Card. Absolutely love to see the Sox struggle-bus pass by.
As the weekend wraps up and we head into another work week, I want to mention one thing to keep the mojo going and the faith in sports alive. Football season is right around the corner. Fantasy football mock drafts will start to pick up and the trash talk within friend groups turn personal real quick. Get your research going and buckle up fellas, you can almost smell it.
