August is an arms length away. About one whole full month of summer left. This shit is flying by…but our careers aren’t. One day closer to retirement, but lightyears away. Get comfy, you got time pal.

This week we will put the focus on the newbies to the corporate world. The ones who aren’t fully locked up yet, but are on trial for life. The interns. Summer interns bring a bolt of energy to the table. They join in the beginning of the summer and are prepared to take on whatever the boss says to. Excited to come to work and driven to succeed….Those poor souls don’t have a damn clue. They are excited for that first bag, but just wait until they find out about what really hides in the cracks of corporate americas ass. The cutting your check in half and giving it back to good ole Uncle Sam, the sitting at a desk for 8+ hours a day, the journey every day of a commute, the $8 coffees.

All things we have talked about in the past and something these interns are going to learn REAL quick. They are going to lose that energy in about a month or two and be ready to get back to school ASAP. They are going to figure out why there father or mother comes home pissed at the world every single day. Why depression is at an all time high. Why people are permanently tired. That’s what we call the “Corporate Effect”. All a bunch of bull shit just to pay the bills. That’s life baby.

What we can agree on is that the Interns are are the future of business and frankly, the future of the economy. Train them right and show them the light at the end of the tunnel. Yes, we complain about the corporate life and yes it sucks. But teach them the hints and tricks to happiness.

Even if that means 10+ beers at happy hour.
